At Crossley Street we are mindful of children's social, emotional and mental health and well-being. We run 'Wellness' and 'Mindfulness' clubs throughout the year where children can take part in a variety of calm and relaxing activities. We refer to quality, key texts where children can read and learn about a range of different emotions. At Before And After School Club, children also have access to a range of high quality, age appropriate texts which explore feelings and ways to look after our mental health in a calming, sensory environment. Mr Whitehead, our Learning Mentor is also instrumental in supporting children with their social and emotional needs and designs bespoke activities tailored to individual pupils.
British Values
At Crossley Street, British Values are embedded throughout our whole curriculum, from Early Years, right the way up to Year 6. The values of: Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs, are also covered through our weekly Moral Message assemblies and are a part of everyday life at Crossley Street. We start learning about British Values as soon as the children enter Nursery, where they democratically choose their book for story time, which also links to the Moral Message!
World Mental Health Day
We celebrated World Mental Health Day in school. All classes carried out a variety of activities in class to help with our mental health. Breathing activities, art and exercise to name but a few. We also introduced the children to the 'Zones of Regulation.' which is a toolkit in each class which helps us to recognise and manage our own feelings and emotions.
