Autumn Forest Schools

The Reception children have been rebuilding the Bug Hotel on the field so the bugs and small animals have a cosy home over winter. We collected leaves, twigs, logs and moss to fill up the Hotel so the bugs have somewhere to keep warm in the cold weather.  It was fun filling it up!

Measuring maths

We measured partners using pens.  We have been learning about measuring length. We have talked about longer, shorter, taller, shorter.

                                                                           The Post Office

Our topic this half term has been The Jolly Postman.  We have been learning about the Post and have been writing our own letters about new fairy tale characters and have made our own Jolly Postman book.  We have been wrapping parcels, writing addresses for parcels and made our own passports which we have had stamped at the Post Office.

We made pictures of children celebrating "Holi" an Indian Festival.  We used dry powder paint to sprinkle on their faces

We had great fun on Shrove Tuesday.  We celebrated Pancake Day with races on the field!  It was great fun!  Then we fed the chickens the pancakes - they loved them -YUM!

The Reception children went along the Harland Way looking for signs of spring.  We saw bird nests, blossom, snowdrops and lots more.  Chloe in Year 6 brought us some frogspawn to watch it grow.  Hopefully soon we will have tadpoles and then tiny frogs!

We have been going out around Wetherby looking at Road Safety features.  We counted how many different things we saw around Wetherby which help us cross the roads more safely.
